HFF understands that social media is an integral part of a film's PR campaign. So what we've done is set up an exciting platform to draw an audience for new independent film both before and after it screens. The goal of the festival is to generate buzz for a film through online hype, word of mouth and an exclusive screening that everyone will be trying to get tickets to.
This festival is a bi-yearly event and the next screenings will take place in June 2020, in London, England. Audience members will buy a ticket to a screening and have no idea what films they are about to see. Before and after their screenings, audience members will be encouraged to share their thoughts on each independent film they’ve seen and the event itself.
Industry press will not be invited. Instead we are encouraging everyone to get online and write, tweet and blog about what they have seen or what they think they will be seeing. Inviting press takes away the eligibility of a film to premiere at a larger festival, instead we want to generate buzz so that films can get into those festivals and have strong public awareness to assist their Premiere in being an event, not just a screening.
